Stephen G. Eick is a serial entrepreneur and well-known research scientist. His educational background includes a B.A from Kalamazoo College (1980), M.A. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison (1981), and his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota (1985).

Dr. Eick joined Bell Laboratories after graduate school where he became interested in technology startup companies and led a Lucent technology spinout company called Visual Insights. After Visual Insights, he co-founded Visintuit, a government contracting company, and founded SSS Research on October 1, 2003. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Chicago and a fellow of the American Statistical Association. He has received 28 patents, and has won many awards for his technology including the Bell Lab’s President’s award and the 2000 Computer-world Smithsonian award for key technologies that change the way people live and work.
