The DIVA group (University of Fribourg, Switzerland) is currently looking for a postDoc to contribute to the development of a multimodal application in the framework of the IM2 NCCR and to help supervising PhD students in the domain of Pattern Recognition and Human Computer Interaction (Gesture Recognition, Document Analysis, Multimodal Interaction, etc.)

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in multimodal data analysis (or in document, image, video or speech analysis) and some knowledge in Interaction Design (with some interests for Human Computer Interaction). Speaking French or German would be a plus.

The postDoc will be financed for a period of 1 year (with possible extensions) and should start as soon as possible, with a compensation of roughly 74'000 swiss francs per year, depending on previous experience. Interested candidates should contact Dr Denis Lalanne (Denis dot Lalanne ((@)) unifr dot ch) with copy to Prof. Rolf Ingold (rolf dot ingold ((@)) unifr dot ch).

Location

The Department of Informatics of the University of Fribourg comprises about 60 researchers, PhD students and professors. In the heart of Switzerland (between the German and French side) and Europe, the Department offers high quality research and education in three languages: German, French and English. The Department is composed of several research groups that focus on specific domains. Amongst these research groups, the DIVA group (Document, Image and Voice Analysis) will be specifically involved in this project. Fribourg is a lively city organized around students and in a strategic location between Bern and Lausanne, with easy access to ski resorts in winter and beautiful mountains and lakes in summer.
