Research Topic
Applications are invited from highly motivated and academically excellent UK/EU or overseas candidates to start October 2012. Candidates interested in the following area are particularly welcome to apply:
Interaction design addressing issues such as human roles in sense making of complex data, distributed decision-making and data visualisation. This area also includes robotics for haptics as well as design of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Research Centre
The Interaction Design Centre (IDC) at the Middlesex University is a leading Visual Analytics research centre in UK. It leads the UK Visual Analytics Consortium (UKVAC), which comprises Imperial College, University College London, Bangor University, and Oxford University. The centre has strong connections with leading US and European visual analytics research institutes and received multi-million funding for Visual Analytics research in recent years.
Application
Applicants must have a first or upper second-class honours degree, and preferably a Masters, in a relevant area. If your first language is not English, a minimum IELTS score of 7 or TOEFL 585 (paper-based); 240 (computer-based).
Scholarships are offer on a full-time basis for three years, subject to satisfactory progress. The level of the maintenance element of the Scholarships is linked to the level of corresponding awards made by UK research councils for UK/EU citizens. The fee element is based on fees for UK/EU students. In addition to work on the doctoral research project, successful applicants will be expected to contribute to associated activities within the School.
