Postdoc or Research Scientist at University Applied Sciences, West Switzerland

The Institute of Information Systems of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis (University of Applied Sciences, Western Switzerland) is looking for a Research Scientist to integrate a newly created laboratory of Human-Computer Interaction and Information Visualization. In particular, you will participate in a project that aims at providing collaborative visualization tools for public authorities.

The HES-SO Valais-Wallis offers a competitive and dynamic working environment. Its Institute of Information Systems is located in Sierre in the canton of Valais. Sierre is a small town in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, at 2 hours by train from Geneva, Milan and Zurich.

Position description

• Active involvement in research projects in the fields of HCI and infovis

• Contribution to the acquisition of new funding

Your profile

• Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Computer Science,

Psychology, or in a related field

• PhD is a plus
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in academic and/or industrial research
• Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of human-computer interaction systems (e.g. desktop or mobile interfaces, interactive visualization,...)
• Scientific publications in the field of Human-Computer Interaction or Information Visualization
• Multidisciplinary experience or interest is a plus (e.g. in science, economics, finance, journalism)
• Experience in writing grant proposals is a plus
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Fluent in English, French or German is a plus

Employment 100 % for two years. Possible extension.
