About C. Ahlberg: Christopher Ahlberg never had entrepreneurial ambitions. Born and raised in Sweden, he did a stint in the Swedish army rangers, and then tackled his Ph.D. dissertation on how to manage and analyze massive amounts of data. But the software he created for his thesis attracted a venture capitalist, who saw opportunity.
So in 1996 Mr. Ahlberg launched Spotfire Inc. with $250,000, moving the firm to the U.S. market soon after. Spotfire packaged and sold the software to retail customers and businesses, with Mr. Ahlberg's team seeing all sorts of possible uses

Dr. Ahlberg earned his doctorate from Chalmers University of Technology, has worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Maryland, and has lectured and consulted extensively for industry, academia, and military - as well as published in computer science, psychology, linguistics, biology, and chemistry. Dr. Ahlberg was named among the World's Top Young Innovators by Technology Review, MIT's Magazine of Innovation in 2002.
