Special Track: Interactive Visualization in Novel and Heterogeneous Display Environments
7th International Symposium on Visual Computing (ISVC'11)
Monte Carlo Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada
September 26-28, 2011
Scope
Technical advances in display technology have led to new opportunities in many fields of application. This special track is dedicated to exploring the new possibilities that these technologies can bring to visual and interactive data exploration and analysis. There are a variety of new technologies available to be used for displaying information and for interacting with it in novel and innovative ways. We solicit submissions related (but not restricted) to visualization on novel displays (e.g., smart phones, tablets, large touch-sensitive surfaces) and in heterogeneous multi-display environments (e.g., ambient or smart environments). Submitted papers may analyze the technical or methodical challenges associated with such devices and environments, introduce new technical or algorithmic solutions to cope with these challenges, or present applications taking advantage of the new possibilities.
Topics
- Data visualization on mobile devices
- Data visualization in multi-display environments
- Data visualization in heterogeneous display environments
- Data visualization on tabletops and surfaces
- Adaptation strategies
- Distributed visualization
- Novel display environments for visualization
- Novel interaction techniques for visualization
- Novel domains for visualization
- Novel applications for visualization
- Human factors of visualization in heterogeneous display environments

Submission Procedure
Papers submitted to ISVC'11 must not have been previously published and must not be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A complete paper should be submitted in camera-ready format. The length should match that intended for final publication. The page limit is 12 pages. In submitting a paper the author(s) agree that, upon acceptance, they will prepare the final manuscript in time for inclusion into the proceedings and will present the paper at the symposium.
Paper Publication
This is a fully refereed symposium. Papers will be reviewed with an emphasis on potential to contribute to the state of the art in the field. Each paper will receive two-three blind reviews and should not contain names or other information revealing authors' identity. Selection criteria include accuracy and originality of ideas, clarity and significance of results, and presentation quality. All papers accepted will appear in the symposium proceedings which will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
