PhD / assistant in dynamic visualisation[edit]

Start date: 1 August 2012 or to be agreed

Duration: 1 year renewable 2 x 2 years. Maximal duration is 5 years

Activity level: 80%

Desired profile[edit]

Applicants must have an MSc (or equivalent degree) in one of the following disciplines: geosciences, computer science, statistics, physics.

Applicants are required to have solid knowledge in information visualisation and computer graphics. Knowledge of a visualisation environment such as OpenGL and a scientific programming language like Python or C is important.

Candidates need to have an interest in the research and teaching at the Institute of geography and have the will to undertake a PhD dissertation in the field of dynamic visualisation for spatio-temporal data.

Description of tasks[edit]

The successful candidate will take part in the research activities in the field of dynamic visualisation and assist in geovisalisation and statistical analysis courses. The main task will be the development and evaluation of dynamic visualisation methods for spatio-temporal data by combining techniques of computer graphics and statistical analysis.

At least 50% of the time will be dedicated to the realisation of a PhD thesis.

At maximum 50% of the time will be for support of teaching and other projects of the Institute.
