HP Labs - Research Associate, Visual Analytics

We are currently seeking highly qualified, self-motivated interns with deep technical expertise in information visualization methodologies and visual analytics systems to accelerate HP's research towards new applications, core methodologies, and systems in Analytics at HP Labs.

Hewlett-Packard Laboratories is an international research organization with its headquarters and largest facility located in Palo Alto, California. As HP's central research organization, HP Labs' purpose is to deliver breakthrough technologies and technology advancements that provide a competitive advantage for HP, by investing in fundamental science and technology in areas of interest to HP and getting the resulting technologies ready for adoption into new and existing markets.

The HP Labs Analytics Lab is responsible for research in analytics systems, technologies, and infrastructure as well as applications and visualization. We are developing new platforms for enabling distributed and secure analytics workloads at cloud scale. At the same time, we are innovating in algorithms and analytics methods that enable business questions to arise proactively from data and become accessible to business users. Finally, we are showcasing novel applications, solutions and visualizations of the data to derive value in unanticipated ways.Examples include improvements to search, visualization and data immersion turning data into actionable information; sensing and control analytics to better understand the physical world around us; and shaping the future of analytics at zetta scale – what will happen when big data becomes truly big, and truly fast.

We are seeking highly qualified candidates to come join our research for an internship, with the possibility of longer term co-innovation and collaboration. We are particularly interested in individuals with a background in information visualization, visual analytics, computer graphics, human-computer interaction, systems, algorithms, or the data sciences, with a good understanding of the current state of the art, major trends and opportunities, and a demonstrated track record in making things real in innovative ways.
