DATA VISUALIZATION HELPS MOVE INFORMATION TO KNOWLEDGE BY ILLUSTRATING HIDDEN ISSUES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN BIG DATA SETS. PERCEPTION AND SENSE MAKING IS GETTING HARDER DUE THE COMPLEX NATURE & SHEER VOLUME OF DATA. VISUAL DESIGN, CLEVER ANALYTICS COMBINED WITH SCENARIO BUILDING OPENS UP A NEW DOMAIN FOR INDUSTRY AND SOCIETY

Workshop 1: May 27th - 31st 2013. Workshop 2: Aug 26th – 30th 2013 Workshop 3: Sept 30th – Oct 4th 2013

Venue : Danish Design Center, Copenhagen. Denmark.

YOU WILL GET A UNIQUE TOOLSET that enables an access to diverse data sets and new visions to be able to define the right challenges to work further with.

BIG DATA VIZ ACADEMY main target group is: cutting edge practitioners, designers and computer scientists, product developers, software programmers and data analysts, technical experts, system architects etc.

FOR MANAGEMENT who needs to learn these tools a company needs while working with Big Data to be able to use them in a strategic way.

CURRICULUM: The extent of the amount of data that will be generated within the next decade will create an increased need for managers and highly trained data specialists to analyze and control how data can best be used. But it will also create a need for a new class of designers and innovation consultants who will deal with how companies, organizations and governments can take advantage of the large amounts of data to solve problems and develop new innovative solutions.

Designers have the capability of thinking about problems from a holistic perspective – a skill used in areas of design such as service design and design thinking. Providing them with a new tool to visualize data will enable them to develop the basic skills, which they excel at in a new perspective – visualizing data to get new stories about existing problems, thereby enabling them to develop new solutions.

The curriculum will be based on a combination of keynote lectures, case studies and hands on workshops
