For our new research project "Experience the Energy" at the Interaction Design Lab of University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP), we are seeking a

Research Assistant
part-time 50%, pay grade TV-L E12

in the area of interface design/human-computer-interaction with a focus on

Information Visualization: Graphical and physical representation of complex information

for the project duration of three years.

The Applicants[edit]

We are looking for highly motivated graduates in these areas. You should have strong conceptual and methodological skills and be able to prove a distinct interest in academic research. Additional skills in areas such as product design, software and hardware prototyping, or social sciences are a plus. The employer will be supportive in finding spare-time work as needed. Place of work will be Potsdam and Berlin.

The Project[edit]

The goal of this publicly funded research project is to achieve a positive change in individual energy consumption behaviour, through innovative interface design solutions. The team, consisting of three designers, will apply and evolve current practices of design research such as cultural probes, co-creation, bodystorming, and prototyping. Based on a series of sektches and prototypes ranging from physical devices to mobile services, the team will devise an own position and put it to the test.

The Research Group[edit]

The Intearction Design Lab is a research institute at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, that has become renowned for its innovative research into human-computer interactions. Publicly funded projects such as MACE (http://portal.mace-project.eu) and Fritzing (http://fritzing.org), as well as R&D cooperations are carried out with highest standards and sustainable outcomes.
