We are looking for a well qualified candidate for a common research project in the field of Collaborative Information Visualization between Växjö University (VXU)
([http://cs.msi.vxu.se/isovis/ ISOVIS] group, headed by Andreas Kerren) and the University of Kaiserslautern (research groups of [http://www-hagen.informatik.uni-kl.de/ Hans Hagen] and [http://vis.uni-kl.de/ Achim Ebert]). The PhD student will develop a suitable visual collaboration method for Information Visualization and Visual Analytics tasks with/without using large displays technology. As visual sensemaking is not only a cognitive exercise but also a social activity, the future visualization tool should support this by special human-centered exploration and interaction possibilities. The project should be accompanied by usability tests and a final evaluation to prove the visualization approach.

The scholarship is primary funded by the CS Department of TU Kaiserslautern and is available immediately. It should be filled as soon as possible! The successful candidate will spend 50% of his/her working time doing research at Kaiserslautern and Växjö respectively. The scholarship amounts to EUR 1468,- per month. He/she will also be able to make use of the many amenities of the International Graduate School [http://www.irtg.uni-kl.de/ IRTG] located in Kaiserslautern, e.g., courses, tutorials, and travel money.

Good proficiency in English, programming skills, and willingness to interdisciplinary research are also required.
