IVBi 2008

SYMPOSIUM ON INFORMATION VISUALIZATION IN BIOMEDICAL INFORMATICS

http://www.graphicslink.co.uk/IV08/IVbm.htm

London, UK, July 9, 2008

Paper deadline: 15 February, 2008

Associated and co-located with the 12th International Conference on Information Visualization 2008 (IV08) http://www.graphicslink.co.uk/IV08/

We are soliciting original papers in the area of information visualization applied to biomedical and biomolecular data, including genomic and proteomic data. One of the great challenges is the presentation of and interaction with large and complex data sets. The need for integrated methods and creative strategies has provided an opportunity for novel solutions. We encourage the submission of new techniques, old techniques applied in novel ways, new methods, interesting applications and in-depth surveys.

Examples of application topics include, but are not limited to

  • Microarray data, design and analysis
  • Nucleotide and protein sequence alignment
  • Sequence analysis, comparison and alignment networks
  • Evolutionary phylogenetic trees
  • Gene expression and gene discovery
  • Signaling pathways, biochemical networks
  • Biochemical and cellular simulations and models
  • Mass spectrometry data analysis
  • Heterogeneous medical data sources
  • Neuroscience and physiology
  • Patient records, etc.

Examples of visualization topics include

  • Interactions with large data sets
  • Annotation and labeling
  • Linking literature and semantics in pathway visualizations
  • Systems-level analysis of experimental data
  • Overview and detail presentation of predictive or uncertain data
  • Comparative Methods / User studies / Surveys
  • Identification of correlated and anomalous relationships in disparate data sets, etc.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Submitted papers are to be prepared as PDF versions of your full paper (The final manuscripts for full papers are expected to be not more than 6 pages - up to 4 excess pages may be purchased and is set by publisher at 25 GBP per page) according to the conference guidelines found at: http://www.graphicslink.co.uk/IV08/INSTRUCTION.htm.

Please, name your file as follows: FirstnameLastname-Institution.pdf For example: GeorgesGrinstein-UMassLowell.pdf.

If you are submitting several papers, please number these appropriately (…UMassLowell2.pdf).

Submission process:

1. Register as a new user with the Conference Online System {your contact details and a user name and password}

2. Follow the instruction to submit and upload your PDF to the online submission system.

Accepted papers will be published as part of the IV08 proceedings, by IEEE Computer Society.
