Ph.D. Fellowships in Visual Analytics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute Computer Science Department

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute Computer Science Department seeks applicants for 1-3 Ph.D. Fellowships in the area of Visual Analytics. These awards, as part of the Department of Education's GAANN Program (Graduate Assistantships in Areas of National Need), are restricted to U.S. citizens or permanent residents pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science who plan a career in research or education. The awards, which cover tuition, a stipend of $30K per year, and some travel funds, are renewable for up to three years. Renewal of a fellowship is based on evaluation of academic and research performance. Continued funding beyond the Fellowship, if needed, will be provided in the form of a research or teaching assistantship.

Applications are being considered for both the Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 semesters. Applicants should have a strong background in one or more areas relevant to visual analytics, including information and data visualization, graphics, human-computer interaction, knowledge discovery in databases, and statistical analysis.

Inquiries and applications can be sent to the address below. Applications should include a letter of intent, a resume, and a description of any coursework or research completed in areas of relevance to visual analytics.
